[He turns on it and drops the device, the video catching a flash of the big heap of metal advancing on him as it falls. It bounces and rights itself with a burst of static.

When the picture refocuses, Tommy has his hands up before him. There's an odd swirl and blur, then--

BOOM!

Tommy's face comes back into the frame as the dust clears and he picks the camera up.]

Okay, so today I learned something.

If you get stupid cursed and do something crazy, like basically take over a bar and buy everyone several rounds of drinks, because you think you can afford it and you tell the bartender to put it on your tab, you have to pay that tab. Even if you can prove you aren't whoever you said you were that day and the whole thing's just a crazy misunderstanding. Also, if you blew up broke a few chairs at some point in the evening, you have to pay for those too.

Even if it's totally not your fault.

So uh.

I need a job.


For those of you who don't know me, I'm Tommy Shepherd. I'm really fast. Like, you wouldn't believe how fast. It'll take you longer to tell me where to bring something than it'll take me to get it there. Also, you know, I fight bad guys and save the world while looking awesome on a regular basis, but I'm not sure if that's a marketable skill here.


Also, if you spoke to me last weekend, basically ignore everything I said. I'm really not that much of a jerk.

[At first, there's just a rush of air over the mic. It stops short for a long moment, instead picking up only the normal background noise of the City. Then, softly and irritably,]

Oh, man...

[The rush picks up again-- in the other direction, not that you can really tell. It pauses again. Then picks up for a minute. Then pauses. Starts again. Then, having traversed the City four times or so, Tommy stops and sits down on a convenient bench, not tired but certainly frustrated.]

Sooner or later one of the others will-- Hey, what's-

[BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP]
