[Here and there, today, across the City and the park and wherever you might happen to be, you might encounter fairly small, greenish freak whirlwinds. It is in fact Tommy Shepherd, running in circles very, very quickly, because at a certain point the doppler effect shifts the vuvuzelas up to a pitch he can't quite hear, and though he can't keep it up indefinitely it helps a bit. At other points when he gets... okay, bored, moreso than tired... one might find him sprawled somewhere on a bench or a low wall or a patch of grass. He is not picky, okay?

[Temeraire is in Xanadu minding his own business and listening to an audiobook, when he notices some very odd wind patters and lifts his head to attention.]

[Tommy has been winding his way through the parks and gardens, staying in one spot just until he gets bored with the same blurry background and often moving on without stopping. He does see the dragons' movement-- not exactly, more as a (relatively) slow shift in his surroundings, and so he stops to look.]

Whoa.

[It looks like Billy, except for the hair. He doesn't smell exactly like Billy either, just very similar. He sniffs again and licks the air quizzically.]

[Rather wide-eyed under his goggles, Tommy is kind of gawking. He's keeping a bit of distance, but he's close enough for comfortable conversation.]

Of course I talk, why is everyone always so surprised?

[Okay, it's definitely not Billy. Temeraire sounds vaguely annoyed, but not very, since he gets that kind of response fairly often.]

Dude, it's not like I've met a ton of giant dragons, how am I supposed to know?

[He's grinning though.]

Have you met any small dragons?

I saw some dinosaurs. They're kinda like dragons.

Not very much like. You look just like Billy, by the way.

Yeah, he's my brother. Probably.

[he is unfazed, though it's starting to get a little weird that everyone knows Billy.]

Oh, I see. I supposedly look very much like my brother as well.

[Temeraire is trying to remember whether he has seen human identical twins before--he has read about them--so at first he doesn't catch the last bit.]

That is...probably?

Yeah, we're not exactly-- it's complicated. [He shrugs. Honestly the whole thing's Billy's idea, let him explain it.] But I guess that's why we look alike.
